Latest Xbox 360 system update is live, now supports 2TB hard drives

4.7
Xbox 360 now supports 2TB hard drives via the latest system update for the console.

Support for the drives was announced earlier this month and has been available for preview members.

“In addition we will also no longer reserve space in advance on your hard drive,” said the firm. “If you are using 16GB of hard drive space for games – we will only take 16GB of space. And just like today – you will be able to use two external drives at a time.”

Here’s some of the other features included with the update per Major Nelson:

Larger external USB hard drives – Plug in any external USB hard drive up to 2 TB to store your Xbox 360 downloads, profile, saved games, and other data.

Purchase history – To view your recent purchases, go to Settings > Account >Purchase History.

Password reset – You can now reset your password by selecting Forgot your password? at sign-in.

Network statistics – View download speed, upload speed, and signal strength, go to Settings> System > Network Settings. Select your network, and then choose Network Statistics.

See your money – Your Microsoft account balance now appears in the top-right corner of the Xbox Dashboard. To turn it off, go to Settings > Profile > Account Security.

Dumb. Who the hell buys a 2tb hard drive?

While I don't see people needing 2 TB, 1 TB is more than enough unless you have a HUGE music playlist, all your games are digital and download all sorts of movies.

no one is going to need 2tb's.

I think this is pointless,no one is going to need 2tb's.

RIAA 1. People asked for it
2. Xbox 360 is also a media player, not just a games console. This isn't the 1990s anymore.

You don't need a 2TB HDD for movies and XB360 game installs. All the music, photos, movies, games and saves etc etc that I could ever need on my XB360 wouldn't even take up more than 350GB. I can understand some people need more than that but I can't imagine a case where anymore than an extra 1TB would be needed.

Sanctyy I honestly thought the 360 supported 2TB HDD's already. I don't see how this is a huge improvement anyway, there wasn't even any need for a 1TB HDD on the 360 since games didn't HAVE to be installed to play.

I don't think I ever used more than 200GB yet on the 360 since most games are usually 6-12GB, but I guess this will be useful for those who has tons of games and what not.

The feature that lets you see your upload/download speed from your Xbox is something I have wanted forever. Finally it's here.
