Top 10: Best Video Game Exploits of All Time

4.8
We count 10 of the greatest video game exploits of all time. Exploiting a video game for personal gain is a time-honored tradition but what 10 have made the list.

10.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - "The Javelin Glitch
An old glitch in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 allowed a player to “cook” an FGM-148 Javelin--or in layman’s terms, prime a missile launcher to fire without actually firing the weapon. Although the player could then only run around and physically hit enemies in the face to keep the glitch alive, the trick turned the player into the digital equivalent of a suicide bomber. For as soon as an enemy shot the player dead, kerboom – the “cooked” missile launcher would explode. If the kill was fairly close-quarters, the player’s attacker would usually die as well.

9.
Battlefield 3--Repairing for Massive XP
This one was fun. Upon the game’s release, players discovered that they could gain an absurd amount of experience in every multiplayer match by having friendly engineers shoot their own EOD bots. The player would then repair the bots; the engineers would keep shooting. Next match? Switch. End result? Massive leveling up for everyone.

8.
Mario Kart 64 - "Rainbow Road shortcut
If the Rainbow Road shortcut isn’t the biggest exploit to ever appear in a racing game, we don’t know what is.

7.
Grand Theft Auto III: Flying Tank
GTA 3 has quite a few cheat codes (remember those?) but the flying tank was not one of them, all you had to do was find a long road, aim the cannon behind you and fire as quick as possible, eventually you would start flying.
This wasn’t the most efficient form of transport, nor was it the safest, but it was definitely the most entertaining way to get from point A to point B.

6.
Final Fantasy VII: Item Duplication
To execute the glitch you need to enter a battle, select the item you want to duplicate, confirm it, then select another item and when the arrow is over a character’s head and cancel the item; every time you do this the item will duplicate.
You can also use this glitch in combination with the morph materia, allowing you to horde source items; these items increase one of your stats

5.
Skyrim: Bucket Head
This exploit allows you to bypass the law with the simple use of a large container.
All you need to do is place a bucket over the shopkeeper’s head and you won’t get caught for taking whatever you please, be it a suspicious book on Argonian maids or a sweetroll, there is no limit to what you can take using this exploit.

4.
Halo 2: Sword Flying Glitch
To Sword Fly you need a warthog and a sword, you then need to get into the passenger seat of said hog and lock on to an enemy, have them move away and then attempt to attack them, the results are hurtling.
Unfortunately, this exploit wasn’t reintroduced in the Master Chief Collection; maybe if they left it in people wouldn’t have noticed the crippling issues with its multiplayer.

3.
Pokemon: "MissingNo"
When you talk to the old man in pallet town your name is briefly changed to ‘OLD MAN’, during this time the Programmers decided to store your actual name in the space where wild encounters are calculated. When you go to a new zone with grass this would be reset, however, since Cinnabar Island has no grass and has the potential to find wild Pokémon this generates the new bug Pokémon: Missingno.

2.
Mario 64 – Back Jumping to Bowser
Mario's backwards jump functions as a kind of warp jump, skipping Mario through almost half of Super Mario 64.

1.
Mario Unlimited 1 UP Glitch
The endless lives exploit in World 3-1 that found Mario racking up points and unlimited lives this still works on modern Mario games today.

I loved the flying tank on GTA.

Never heard of any of these glitches before.

The best glitch I've ever seen/done would be the prestige token glitch on MW3.... went through the whole game cycle with double XP and without a ban.

The flying tank on GTA III was my favorite

RepBanditPosted:

the Mario 1up should be number one, it was one of the best back in the day and still can be used to this day!

I remember doing most of these! Especially the Battlefield one

-Skittle Another one would definitely be the Cold Blooded glitch on Mw2, you shoot a helicopter with a weapon so it is spinning round and smoking, but not blown up. Start shooting it and for each bullet that hits it counts as 1 aircraft destruction, load off a few mags and you'll have cold blooded pro just like that!

Luckily challenge lobbies were out really soon because perks were too long

Pro perks were not that hard to get..
