Windows 10 is coming to Xbox One “post-summer”

4.7
Windows 10′s release on Xbox One will lag a little bit behind its PC release.

Windows 10 is promised to change the look and feel of all of Microsoft’s products, Xbox One included. We’ve barely seen or heard anything about what that really means for Xbox One, and it looks like we’ll be waiting a while longer.

Xbox boss Phil Spencer was chatting with fans on Twitter, as he’s known to do, and revealed that the official launch of Windows 10 in the summer doesn’t include Xbox One.

Before software updates hit Xbox One, they first have to go through the preview program, where selected Xbox One owners get to test them and make sure nothing is broken. This is presumably what Spencer is referring to, so it will be even longer for the rest of us.

This could be a good thing or a bad thing.

It would be a bad thing if it came with all sorts of bugs. Honestly, I would prefer for it to stay as is and have them improve speeds to prevent any problems that windows 10 might bring.

Potion People need to realize that windows 10 and DX12 for xbox one aren't going to be some magical cure-all. The truth is that the specs for the XB1 are very pitiful compared to a $500 gaming PC and that even a new OS isnt going to save the console. (Before i get the hate for being pcmasterracer i own an XB1 and i love the games, but the console specs are just terrible)

That much should be obvious haha. Only hardcore Microsoft fanboys are going to try and argue with you, and truth be told I look forward to them trying to explain themselves.

As long as the dash is faster. Incredibly slow now.

Specs aren't everything when it comes to gaming. I could have way more fun on my PS2 than I could on a PC. And I know that for a fact because my cousin has a $1000 custom built PC.

Personally, I can't wait for this release. I really don't like the W8 on this console. It's just so ugly.

I won't make a judgement before anything is released, but I know they will change quite a lot!

I'm actually pretty excited for Windows 10 altogether. Windows 8 was a good idea in a sense, but never really reached its full potential with a slower movement toward "tablet computers". It'll be interesting to see how the interface goes along with the X1

GTXPlayer I'm guessing faster navigationa and the likes once they start with the new version of DirectX. Can't wait for this.

And before anyone says Windows is a bad idea for Xbox, you're wrong. The console already runs Windows (At least the Kernel, maybe more).

I agree and think this is a great idea. Looking forward to it!
