YouTube gaming livestreams now support 60fps

4.6
YouTube has launched 60fps support for its livestreaming service.

Having launched 60fps playback some time ago, YouTube has now upgraded its streaming technology to support 60fps livestreams.

The new system transcodes streams into 720p60 and 1080p60. You will need a browser that supports HTML 5 to be able to watch said streams. The HTML 5 player now also supports rewinding and variable speed playback at 1.5x and 2x.

Both Elgato and XSplit have released updated versions of their capture tools to support the new feature.

The program is currently in preview period and the creator blog post did not say when it will fully launch.

Would still rather watch a stream on twitch than YT

PictureRGH must be really nice for livestreamers.

I honestly haven't seen any YouTubers stream on YouTube, always twitch. The only stream on YouTube I know of that had YouTubers in it, was that whole Obama interview that was streamed a few months back.

I hope to see them decrease the latency between posting and the streamer seeing it.

I saw this the other day when using YT.

I'd seen some posts on Reddit about some people not being in 60FPS but still 1080p.

Could just be rumors though.

While I don't think I've watched a YouTube stream once in my life, still nice to see 60 FPS being supported for their streams.
