Xbox One is getting a new controller in June

Even though the Xbox One controller has earned many plaudits, one thing universally hated is the lack of a headphone port. So far the best solution has been to buy the $24.99 Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter, but even that's not without its problems. Although it won't be much consolation to gamers that already bought the adapter, Microsoft is going to release a refreshed controller this June with a 3.5mm port built in.

The news comes via Microsoft's own support site, which says the port (number 16 on the diagram above) will feature on "controllers released after June 2015." It also notes that only "compatible" 3.5mm audio devices can be connected to this port. Chances are you'll be able to hear audio through any headphones, but there will be some headset mics that won't work due to the pointlessly different way manufacturers order the conductors on their jacks. The PlayStation 4, and many phones, suffer from the same issue, so that's not really something Microsoft can control.



Microsoft’s E3 conference will take place on June 15 at 9.30am Pacific Time which is 5.30pm in the UK.

Like come one people realize that 90% of this shit should have been out with release and MS is literally just **** its loyal customers. The release of this console and the bull shit they're pulling has made me loose so much respect for this company. I find it hard to remain loyal to this console when the PS4 works a lot better and so does my PC.


I don't understand how PS4 works a lot better. Only thing that PS4 is good at is having nearly all their games at 1080p.

I'll be 100% honest. I own both PS4 and Xbox One. I see no issues with the Xbox One (and yes I play it equally as much as my PS4)

Only thing I like that PS4 has over Xbox One, is the chat. When typing messaging the auto typer is so much easier than the Xbox have to type each letter. Other than that, both consoles have treated me well. I have replaced both controllers that have came with the consoles. Bought three headsets and ended up selling two and buying one that works with both consoles (A40 Astros). I have the Kinect (love it might I say, worth the value I spent on it.) I have at least 5-10 games for each console. Only game I have on both is GTA V.

PS4 and Xbox One: Experience is equal to me.

TaigaAisaka I like how they're adding more to it. the Xbox One controller right now just looked like there could be a lot more added to it, so nice to see them adding to it.


Tbh, these things should have been added from the start. I know im buyibg one since the one i have has issues with the LB. its so annoyibg when im playing fifa.

WaffleIsland Wish they also fixed the thumbstick drift for the controller as well, but nice to see them add this.

I am actually going to be getting a new controller soon due to the thumbstick, so I hope that this controller will be my savior.
