Halo 5: Guardians MP Will Launch With Over 20 Maps, DLC Will Be Free

4.7
Newly surfaced Halo 5: Guardians details suggest that a healthy offering of both vanilla and DLC multiplayer maps will keep Halo fans on Xbox One busy for quite some time this Fall and into 2016.

According to an exclusive Halo 5: Guardians preview provided by GameInformer in their latest July Issue, revealed by user shinobi602 on NeoGAF , the game will launch with over 20 multiplayer maps and will provide another 15 downloadable ones by June 2016. The kicker is that all maps are said to be free of charge, which will ensure a non-fragmented multiplayer community after any DLC launch.

In addition, developer 343 Industries has plans to reveal a “completely new, epic multiplayer experience” next week at E3 2015 that aims to incorporate “all aspects of the Halo sandbox for the first time ever.” 343 describes it as a “dream of ours and all our fans to build something like this.”

Additional details are under wraps, but we’ll certainly find out more soon. Microsoft’s media briefing begins at 9:30 AM Pacific this coming Monday, June 15.

This is good to hear but I have not played halo in forever

Arzua That's pretty cool of them, but I'm not a fan of Halo.

I stopped being a fan after reach honestly. It is good to hear about this but meh

ProJimmyRustler I find it funny that even though MCC was a total crapfest, people praise 343 for releasing free DLC.

How can flashing free DLC make you forget that you got ripped of $60?

Well, I don't feel like I was ripped of $60. While it was frustrating that it wasn't working much at launch, I still managed to enjoy it. It got better and then I enjoyed the multiplayer side of it. I also never saw TMCC as a main game. It was just a side project, so I found it slightly more forgivable. I can see if others don't forgive them or whatever, but it didn't really hinder my enjoyment I got out of it overall.

Never forget, and never forgive. I'm probably not even going to get Halo 5 until they fix MCC.

According to IGN, it may not have split-screen co-op, but it won't require you to have gold to play online co-op. I don't have a problem with that, but I do know other people do. No idea why it is apparently gone. These 15 free maps though. That is awesome. Does 343 have any type of thing so you can donate to the? lol. I kind of feel bad to just take free stuff like that. I understand why they are doing it though. It does split the community quite badly. Total respect to 343 for this.

Waiting for more info at E3, I think that Halo will be a massive part of it this year
