Confirmed: Fallout 4 will run at 1080p and 30fps on PS4, Xbox One, PC Unlimited

4.1
Fallout 4 will run at 1080p and 30 frames-per-second on everything, it has been revealed.

Fallout 4 director Todd Howard confirmed the news to Digital Spy at this year's E3 gaming expo.

"It is 1080p on everything," he said, before confirming that it would run at 30fps and not 60fps.

Fallout 4, which is set in post-apocalyptic Boston, is the first new entry in the role-playing series since 2010's New Vegas.

Players will be able to build structures and defences within the game world, while mod support has been confirmed for PC, followed by Xbox One.

Update 2: After the comments by Pete Hines we removed this from our homepage but today Bethesda has confirmed that it's indeed true.
Update: Bethesda confirmed that the PC version of the game will be uncapped, and that 1080p/30fps only applies to the console versions.

-Skillet- I would much rather play Fallout in 30 FPS than 60 FPS.

Said no one, ever. What is the rationale behind this?

"the human eye can't see over 24FPS anyway"

When will they learn?

Pretty sure its 50 fps, now 24. I guess that's just what you console players tell yourselves.

RIP my spelling. Pretty sure its 50 fps, NOT* 24.

Human eye can't see more than 24 lmao r u stupid. Human eye can't see beyond 42 fps

the human eye can see thousands of frames per second, the issue for you is that your monitor or tv does not have a high refresh rate. monitors are 60, 120, 144, etc hz. each hz = a frame. So if you get 120 FPS on a 60hz monitor you can only see 60FPS because the monitor cannot refresh above 60, however a 120hz monitor can.

You guys are really arguing about this? That's kinda pathetic... Just play the damn game

It's actually been tested that people can see over 60 FPS. I can tell the difference when gaming at 60 FPS and 120 FPS. Obviously, to be able to tell a difference at that high of a refresh rate you'd have to be at least somewhat used to 60 FPS. Maybe that's where console players are getting the misconception.

I'm not sure we've actually reached a frame rate that the human eye can't see.

This. It was proven a long time ago that the human eye can see more than 30 fps. Just because movies are shown at a 'cinematic' 24 fps doesn't mean we can't see more than that.

see for yourself. The 30 fps looks like its stuttering the entire time opposed to the 60
