Xbox One gets new firmware today

It’s been a quiet few months at Microsoft camp when it comes adding new features to the Xbox One’s OS. This month is not too different, unfortunately.

Major Nelson announced the new update with a short message. The reason is because it doesn’t bring any new user-facing features, only behind-the-scenes work.

Mianly, it further prepares the console for game streaming, which launches with Windows 10 this month. It also prepares the console for the backwards compatibility feature.

Major Nelson adds that the Xbox team is focused on the upcoming UI overhaul, which is due in the fall.

They may be rushing with this, but you know how it is. They want to cash in as much money as possible. That is why they have to satisfy the community. ;)

Yeah for real im glad they are doing this and unmodded console is prob the greatest thing since pc vac services .


I'm sure someone will be able to mod theses consoles soon enough

Hopefully it doesn't it would be good to have a console without any hacks etc

Will be a nice feature for the one users backwards compat is a huge addition

At least they make sure the new features will work by preparing the consoles for them beforehand
