The patch brings tweaks under the hood, and we also get a notice about a new known issue with the Internet Explorer app, alongside a couple of workarounds, thanks to a post by Program Manager Emily Hanson.
DETAILS
OS version released: xb_rel_1508.150728-2200
Available: 6:00PM PT 7/31 (2AM GMT 1/8)
CHANGES
Minor tweaks under the hood.
KNOWN ISSUES
Internet Explorer: We’ve received reports that Internet Explorer is crashing upon launch and the development team is investigating the issue. If you encounter an Internet Explorer crash when launching the app, please see if the following work-around helps:
Launch the Internet Explorer app.
Immediately hold down both LT and RT then press Y.
Backward Compatibility: Some Backward Compatibility titles may show as “Default Title” in Popular with Friends.
Xbox Fitness: When resuming from Instant-On mode and with Xbox Fitness suspended, you may encounter a frozen Kinect preview image, and Kinect interaction will not resume.Workaround: Hard reboot the console.
Interestingly, the August software update preview has been a succession of changes under the hood. This follows the pattern we’ve seen just before E3, so Microsoft might be keeping its cards close to its chest in order to deliver surprises at Gamescom.
As usual, if you’re not part of the preview program, but would like to be, you can mention it in the comments (including your gamertag), and another reader might be able to send you an invite.
Just remember that this is a beta testing program, so you understand and accept the responsibility for any issues caused to your console, since preview members do it to make the launch of each patch smoother for everyone else, and not just to get a sneak peek on future updates.
