iPhone 6s said to feature 12-megapixel camera, 4K video recording

12-megapixel photos, 4K video recording and a front-facing flash-like feature for selfies, are all coming to the next iPhone, according to 9to5Mac.

The report comes less than two weeks before Apple's September 9 iPhone event, where the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus are expected to be unveiled. The next iPhone is also anticipated to be available in a pink-type color named ‘Rose Gold’, similar to the Apple Watch.

The camera upgrade will be the first increase in the iPhone's megapixel count since the iPhone 4s in 2011. Sources quoted in the report claim that the improved image signal processor with the new A9 system-on-a-chip will prevent photos from being washed out or of lesser quality. The report is unclear whether the new phones will have a native 12-megapixel sensor or a cropped 13-megapixel sensor, for digital image stabilization purposes.

4K video recording support is also said to be coming to the iPhone for the first time. The improved video capabilities are expected to take a key role in marketing the device following the current 'Shot on iPhone 6' campaign.

Specs on the upgraded front-facing camera were not revealed, though it is expected to be capable of panorama shots and 720p slow motion video. Flash functionality will also be introduced to the front camera; however, the report dismissed claims that it will be an LED flash unit.

"While some industry watchers have speculated that code in iOS 9 betas indicates that Apple will add a front-facing LED flash to the new iPhones, sources say that is not the case.

Instead, the new iPhone’s display will take cues from Snapchat and Photo Booth, lighting up with a quick white screen when the shutter button for the front camera is pressed."

No new photos were included in the report but recent leaks suggest the iPhone 6s will have a similar form-factor to the iPhone 6.

The screen will definitely not be 4k. iPhones are still using 720p displays


720p displays, why would someone want a phone that's so crappy compared to others? the LG G4 is using a 1440p panel, i plan to get the G5

okay but its on a decent os this time, not android lol

First of all don't even try and start a " iOS vs Android" argument right now. Second OnePlus One runs on CyanogenMod and if you really think that CyanogenMod isn't a "decent" OS then you have never tried it and are to narrow minded to try anything other than your very limited iOS.


To be fair tho my friend has the one plus one and the camera seems quite grainey and dull when compared to the iPhone 6 plus which I have, even the front camera is shit compared to the iPhone photos and he admits it himself


Tell your friend to get ColorOS or CameraNextMod ported from the xda forums and his pictures will be dramatically better. It's just the stock camera app that isn't good.

I don't get how people are bending their 6 plus, are you fat ? I've had mine for about 6 months now and had it in my back pocket of skinny jeans while sitting down and it hasn't bent one bit so I don't know how people are managing to bend it. Same with my mate and he's quite big

True yea ^^ I have the iPhone 5S so i think i'm due for an upgrade. Ill have to pay probably £400-£450 to change i'm guessing
