Rainbow Six Siege Confirmed To Have No Single-Player Story

4.7
What is it with modern-day shooters going down the ‘no story’ route?

Titanfall, Evolve, Star Wars Battlefront – now Ubisoft’s latest franchise-resurrecting Rainbow Six has just confirmed it’ll be running with a heavy focus on essentially being multiplayer-only. Sure you have access to offline and ‘single player content’ in the form of maps filled with bots, but unlike the cancelled R6: Patriots that looked to be delivering a sold story, Siege will have no such thing.

Speaking at EGX 2015, Scott Mitchell, Art Director mentioned,

“There is no story mode per se. You go through training, where you get to experience different operators and their devices. You can play against enemy AI in co-op through all the maps. You can customise matches, so that’s what we’re offering on the single-player side of things”
adding,

“It’s a pretty good training ground, and on top or that you’re unlocking the same content as you would playing in PvP. You’re still gaining stars, reknown points, and new operatives”

Immediately for many fans of Rainbow Six’s older games, this will be a killing blow. It’s all well and good offering up a bevy of maps (11 so far, to be exact) that’ll be downloadable for free going forward, but anyone not up for getting stuck into the online portion of things will be thoroughly put off that the dedicated single player part of the experience is essentially just a training ground.
Rainbow Six Siege is scheduled for release December 1st, 2015.

Played the beta and didn't really like the game. This now just 100% assured me that I'm not going to get this. Looked at this game for so long and this. Nah. Not happy.

Guess I'll look out for all the other games.

This is very disappointing , I like these games for the single player campaigns

RobbedPosted:

That's quite sad as these type of games normally have good single player modes.

gtapro151 The new ara is about playing online with friends i haven't played a sp since mw2

you are so ignorant, first off its era.. and second off the new ERA of gaming is NOT about online ONLY games.. get a grip guy, one of the best games this year Witcher 3 was you guessed it a singleplayer game! Another insanely successful game Batman Arkham Knight you guessed it singleplayer.. probably the game of this for 2015 Fallout 4 yep you guessed it a single player game. Sure have MP become more popular yeah maybe for a few genres mainly in the shooter category but that doesnt mean game companies should only make MP games -_- especially a game like rainbow six with a pretty decent fan following (atleast the original rainbow six games had a nice following) of gamers who enjoy 1st/3rd person tactical shooters. Rainbow six single player was the shit man and this is just a huge let down. More and more games are becoming online only and it wouldnt surprise if me if multiplayer only games become a majority soon.. Im tired of this generic shooter phase that gaming is going through. Gaming is going down hill and fast, I wouldnt be surprised if gaming had another crash. First thing im doing tomorrow is taking my angry ass down to gamestop and taking my pre order off of rainbow six. Im genuinely upset about this gosh darn it -_-

WHYYYY goddamn it, im taking my pre order off of this game.. why does every game series always have such a bad **** up.. I get that game companies are wanting to expand to a wider audience but this is too far. WHY are games not having single player game modes anymore? Every news they release about this game just makes me cri ):

Not buying this game -_-
