Pirates are finding it harder to crack new PC games

4.7
Pirates at the infamous Chinese hacking forum 3DM are complaining that recent PC games are simply too darn hard to crack, according to Torrent Freak. The problem is apparently Denuvo, a copy protection scheme that prevents tampering of the underlying DRM. Two recent games that use the scheme, FIFA 16 and Just Cause 3, have still not been cracked, despite appearing in early December. Based on the current pace of encryption tech, "in two years time I'm afraid there will be no free games to play in the world," said one forlorn pirate.

While hackers from 3DM did break an early Denuvo-locked title, Dragon Age: Inquisition, the tech has been improved over the intervening year. It's nearly unheard of for PC games to remain uncracked for more than a few weeks -- often, they're broken before they even go on sale. If the recent Denuvo games remain locked for much longer, pirates may give up and either buy them on Steam or Origin or move on to something else. Suffice to say, the gaming industry will be keeping a close eye on what happens.

OP "in two years time I'm afraid there will be no free games to play in the world," said one forlorn pirate.

This quote made me laugh. But, in all seriousness, I think it is a good thing. Games aren't that expensive on PC with all their sales and what not, and it shouldn't be a huge issue to shell out a couple of bucks every once and a while.

Good to see PC games are stepping up their security. Wouldn't be fair to those who have actually bought the games

i remember back in the days when it was easy for them to crack games

I think people should buy the game but they should also be able to test to see if its worth purchasing. Sometimes beta isnt a good enough test because of how limited the beta always is.

good! let's see people supporting the game developers by actually purchasing the GAMES!

DezBryant thats good lol.. People need to buy the game! instead of downloading it for free

Pirating has always been good to try a sizable portion of the game before actually commiting to a purchase though. As demo's may not be fully reflective of the sustainable quality of the final product

Damn, i guess this is both a good and bad thing for the gaming industry

People need to purchase games and give the correct money to the developers.

Rawrrrrrr alot of games now days are garbage so you won't have to buy them anyways! ^o^

Actually no some great games coming out soon you just choose to play the bad ones or the more mainstream games..

If you think games are garbage now lets see you make one

Why does he have to make a game he only said he doesnt like most of them. Which is true cod has gone downhill, halo is becoming shit, fifa is just a money scam and many other games are starting to follow suit. People rate there will be a video game boycott soon so people start protesting that the games are getting to expensive and that we are not getting what is promised to us when we buy them. (Look up about the lost e.t game that got buried)

Halo is an xbox game this is the PC section, COD is not that popular on PC and the people who play COD on PC seem to be ok with their purchases, if you go into any forum on steam for any cod its mainly people who are happy with their purchase PC players either like or dont like COD as for fifa it goes with any sports game how much can you add to a sports game and im not sure how big of a community that is on PC. Plus people on PC dont need to pay full 60 for games and if they do they can easily get a refund.
