Rainbow Six Siege patch tweaks hit detection, matchmaking

4.5
The latest Rainbow Six Siege update makes some important changes.

A Rainbow Six Siege patch is available for PC today, with the console update to follow on January 14 once Ubisoft’s had a look at how it goes down with the PC crowd.

The major highlights of the update include improvements to hit registration; server tick rate has been updated to 60 times per second for all regions, following a period of testing.

Matchmaking has also been adjusted, to increase the chances of “pre-made parties being matched against a squad with an equal number of pre-made parties within them”. Skill criterion originating from the player’s region is now more precise, too.

Lobby waiting time estimates have been improved, and Ubisoft has also prioritised data centre when matchmaking, hopefully resulting in better ping. PC users can edit their game settings file to adjust their default data centre, with more accessible support for this feature on the way.

There are also a number of community-nominated bug fixes, which you can check out in the full patch notes on the Ubisoft forums.

No fix for your least favourite issue? Ubisoft said its still working down the list of high-priority fixes it put on the schedule during January, so stay tuned over the next few weeks. The first DLC pack has been delayed, and if bug and performance fixes are the reason we’re pretty okay with that.

I really like the update for matching parties with other parties. Other similar games to Rainbow Six Siege should have this implemented into their matchmaking.

Im glad they are fixing issues and not just leaving them, i havent played this game yet so i wouldnt know how annoying the hit detection is.

The hit detection was awful, especially on the L96 light-machine gun. One of the only guns I used, but it always seemed to miss those easy headshots.

Nothing worse than bad hit detection, good on them for fixing it.
