First of all, he expressed his personal feelings about the issue with Fable Legends, mentioning that he wishes every game that gets started ended successfully, but unfortunately that isn’t always the case.
@JenniferRHurni I really wish every game we started ended successfully. Regretfully doesn’t always happen. I’m sad as well, I love Fable.

Spencer also affirmed that Xbox One is critical to Microsoft’s gaming future:
@benedictm This is wrong. Xbox One is critical to our gaming future.
— Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) March 11, 2016
@genescoot I feel supported by Microsoft to continue to build our Xbox console business and to innovate in gaming.
— Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) March 11, 2016
@genescoot Thanks for that. I’m here to work on Xbox and grow what MS can do in gaming.

We then hear that the count of five internal studios that some brought up from the logos on Microsoft’s official website is incorrect. Spencer also defines the investment in first party studios “healthy,” as demonstrated by the output of games.
@Steverulez @bones_no Math isn’t right. I know there are logos on sites etc but overall Studios investment is healthy, imo output shows that

Spencer then clarified that Universal Windows Platform is not a closed environment as some allege, and confirmed that more will be shared at the Build conference at the end of the month.
@PNF4LYFE It’s not closed and yes, //build will be a good time for us to show we are hearing the feedback.
— Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) March 11, 2016
He also explained what the expansion towards PC gaming means for Xbox One players:
@Dooner44 More games, more developers, more players, more investment in our gaming business.
— Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) March 11, 2016
Asked whether Microsoft is likely to acquire more studios, he mentioned that that kind of event should happen after collaborating on actual games, not the other way around, as it happened with Minecraft:
@bones_no @benedictm We should start with the games we build and if something happens it should be from the collaboration, like Mojang.
— Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) March 11, 2016
Spencer also mentioned that Scalebound is looking good, and that Microsoft wants to give it all the time it needs. It’s a very unique game for Microsoft, unlikely anything they have done with their first party studios before:
@genescoot Scalebound looks good. We want to give it the time it needs, very unique game for us, not like anything we’ve done in 1P before
— Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) March 11, 2016
Apparently, we can expect more news on Gears of War 4‘s multiplayer beta soon:
@Scorptor @SpinningPl8tes Not bugging me and yes.
— Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) March 11, 2016
Speaking of that, Spencer is going to have a meeting with The Coalition Studio Head Rod Fergusson about how he has done in the past year.
I’m getting ready to talk to @GearsViking about how he’s done this past year, what do we think?
— Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) March 11, 2016
Spencer then commented on the possibility of letting internal studios work on more than one franchise at the same time:
@Steverulez @bones_no @benedictm It’s not that, today’s games are huge efforts, there aren’t many studios anywhere balancing 2 AAA games.
— Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) March 11, 2016
@benedictm @Steverulez @bones_no Exactly, it’s almost the opposite in the industry, multiple studios working on one game is more the norm.
— Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) March 11, 2016
That said, teams can still be moved between different franchises, like Rare is doing. New IPs are also being created thanks to the increased access to the console.
@Steverulez @bones_no @benedictm Teams can move between franchises, Rare is doing that. It’s not something you force, team drives.
— Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) March 11, 2016
@captaingamepad @AnchormanV2 With the increase access studios have to console, we’ve seen a lot of new IP. Ori is good example.
— Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) March 11, 2016
Speaking of Rare, he explained that he has a “ton of confidence” in the progress they’re making on Sea of Thieves.
@MrXBob @ErchachoESP I have a ton of confidence in the progress Rare is making with @SeaOfThieves
— Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) March 11, 2016
If you’re wondering whether Ori and the Blind Forest will ever be ported to PS4, it’s unlikely.
@JohnLalinjaman Sorry, this is unlikely to happen. But it is available on Xbox One and Windows. I highly recommend playing.
— Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) March 11, 2016
Spencer then pointed out that he’s glad that Hello Games0′ No Man’s Sky is coming to PC.
@Joel_Creek I like Sean, I’ve known him for a long time. I’m glad game is coming to PC, I’m curious to play, I haven’t played yet.
— Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) March 11, 2016
Last, but not least, Spencer mentioned that this hasn’t been a great week for him on a personal level. He feels like any other Xbox fan, and having to cancel games and close studios takes a toll.
@BeetleComet I know, not a great week for me personally, takes a toll. I feel it like any other Xbox fan.
