Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has been spotted on the Xbox Store

Just a couple weeks ago we reported on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and how we were reached out by a credible source saying we could possibly see these two games as pre-order bonus content for Call of Duty 2016.

We now have proof to backup our story. Earlier today, Modern Warfare 2 was spotted on the Xbox Store under a list of backward compatible games. A user on Reddit by the name of "conorthorne" posted the pictures. According to conorthorne, "MW2 was on the Xbox Store and wouldn't let me buy it just said error then it was gone."

Ever since we reported on the pre-order content, there has been YouTubers twisting our report claiming they will be remastered. We never mentioned anything about them being remastered.

The game has since been pulled from the games store. The game was simply put up for testing purposes, much like we saw with Red Dead Redemption earlier this year.


Here was a statement by Larry Hryb over the Red Dead Redemption early listing.

Microsoft tests all Xbox 360 games with our emulator to ensure a quality experience across a breadth of titles,” Hryb wrote “Due to an error, some of the games currently in test were accidentally made available. We have since removed access to those games, and apologize for any confusion this may have caused. We will have more information on upcoming releases soon.”

Hryb also confirmed Xbox One owners who accessed the game early will not be banned for accessing the game early.

When we first reported about this a couple weeks ago, we stood by our source and we still do. This gives you all the more reasons to believe our story.

Would be awesome to play MW2 again, ever since i sold my 360 i've been really wanting to play this, COD4 and WaW, the best games.

Cal_Memphis Do you guys feel that this would be a good thing or do you feel that if this game is revived on Xbox One will it be modded and become unplayable again? Personally I feel that enough people coming back to the game will cause modded lobbies to resurface which I feel ruins the bad community Modern Warfare 2 still has. (Search and Destroy is just filled with people running around with Jitter controllers and it's horrible.)


The Xbox One seems pretty good about modders. At least to the point where if literally everyone in the lobby is modding, bans will be handed out.

If I were an Xbox Manager/Had the ability to ban people..I'd just sit around a MW2 lobby on the 360 and ban hammer everyone I notice.I think MW2 will be great on the Xbone because it won't focus around modding this go around, due to how there aren't any real modded consoles out yet/ISO mods/USB mods, Etc.


Yea but you gotta realize that it isn't a Xbox one server it's just an emulator so the 360 mods will still be on there regardless if it's on Xbox one

Not really news to me. If I want to play an older game i just turn on my xbox 360. I tried some backward compatible games on the xbox one there is a slight lag/delay. It bothers to much to use it.

I'd really like to see this game return. With more active users, the player base would actually be quite a lot more exciting. At this point, its just trickshotters and scrubs, nothing between.
