Battlefield 1 releases October 21st - Watch the world premiere trailer

4.7
Battlefield 1 has been officially announced.

The video shows all in-engine footage of a game where warfare is more personal and physical. It features close quarters combat in trench warfare, on the ground units coming at you on horseback, biplane air battles, all covering the history of the war and how it was the genesis of modern warfare.

“With Battlefield 1 we set out to create some of the largest create, most dynamic battles in FPS history while continuing to tap into what fans love most about the franchise,” said DICE. “One of the things that makes World War I such an amazing era is just how advanced it really was.

“Almost everything that you know about the conflicts of the next century, from the massive battles across land, air and sea, to the powerful and efficient weaponry, is there.”

Since it was a global war, players will be taken around the world to places such as the Western Front as well as the deserts of Arabia. Players will be taken to France, the Italian Alps and be able to visit various cities and villages.

These areas are playable through multiplayer and the campaign. The team is also turning the destruction “up a few notches too.”

Vehicles are some of the largest ever built in-game, and will be interesting to play in 64-player battles, according to DICE.

Immersion has been taken into consideration, and while its fun to play in single-player as a “lone wolf,” DICE said playing in a multiplayer persistent squad is “where it’s at.”

Weapons can be customized and there will be a large variety. Rifles, flamethrowers, machine guns, a mace, and other melee weapons such as shovels will be usable. Some of the melee weapons will be heavy or light.

Gas masks will be made use of, giving players the option of running through deadly gas or finding a way to go around it.

After a couple mishaps earlier today, otherwise known as leaks, DICE revealed its new World War I shooter during a livestream this afternoon.

Those who attend the EA Play event during E3 2016 next month can get their hands on the shooter.

Game looks absolutely unreal! Battlefield has been my go to game for the past few years. Its sucks it comes out a couple weeks before the COD 4 remaster. I'm definitely getting that and I just can't see spending $140 in a 3 week time span :(

Looks pretty good, outstanding compared to that 'other game'.

Like the looks of the large tanks, trench warfare, mustard gas, and the fact they've based it upon a real life reigment from War Times.

Very excited to see more information, videos and screenshots.. Looking and sounding like a superb game already.

I remember back when MW2 just came out I was such a COD person and now that COD has sucked for about 4 years now It's the complete opposite and I've been playing Battlefield. Can't wait for this

This looks absolutely AMAZING. They implemented so many good items and things to use/do. Horses are transportation. Bi-Planes. Mace and shovel. Not these stupid light sabers and baseball bats from CoD. The game itself looks amazing. I hope Battlefield learned its lesson from Hardline, that game was a mistake.

All in all, can't wait for the release of Battlefield 1!!
