The J3 Pro stands out from many other lower-cost smartphones by offering metallic bodywork. Samsung said last year that it intends to differentiate its devices by offering slimmer designs, premium materials, and wider use of high-definition displays.
At 8mm-thick, the J3 Pro isn't the slimmest handset out there, even in its price range, but it does offer a solid set of specs with which to attract buyers, including:
5-inch Super AMOLED with HD (1280x720px) display
Quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor
2GB RAM
16GB onboard storage (plus microSD card support up to 128GB)
8MP rear camera with LED flash and 1080p video recording at 30fps
5MP front-facing camera
Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n
NFC
Bluetooth 4.1
4G LTE connectivity
Dual-SIM support
USB 2.0 port
2600mAh battery
142.2 x 71.3 x 8mm; 139g
Unfortunately, as SamMobile points out, the device is shipping with last year's Android 5.1.1 Lollipop onboard, rather than Android 6.0 Marshmallow, which has now been available for eight months.
The Galaxy J3 Pro will launch on China Telecom in the coming weeks, priced at 990 CNY (roughly $150 USD).
