Sony gave the press a glimpse of what we can expect from the newly-announced Next Generation Portable in Japan earlier today. One of the first hackers to release a custom firmware for the PS3 just tweeted this - "To everyone asking me about 3.56 and CFW : PLEASE STOP. We can decrypt/encrypt the 3.56 files, but we cannot sign them, so it's not so easy." So there you have it, looks like Sony is getting slightly smarter with their protection.

A new hack has been released for the DSi using a DSiWare game, as posted by yellows8 over at hackmii. Interesting stuff. But given all the newfound illegalities on console hacking, it seems like these 'achievements' will be slowing up across all consoles? Sony has more cause to be even happier today! News has just hit that they have been graned their request for a Temporary Restraining Order in their case against Geohot and the other hackers. The judge has also ruled that there is enough evidence to keep the case in San Francisco. What more could Sony wish for?

The latest system software update for the Playstation 3 is aimed at improving the entertainment devices security by adding a minor security patch. In a statement printed on its website, Crysis 2 developer Crytek says it's aware of issues regarding the Xbox Live-exclusive multiplayer demo, and is "working to resolve" them "as quickly as possible." Known issues include sudden disconnects from servers and, for some, constant console freezing when first joining or concluding matches.
