The last year has not been too kind to big GaaS (Games as a Service) releases. In fact, in a relatively short time period we saw two launches that were, frankly, rather disastrous. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 had a difficult development period, one that ended up discarding an experimental campaign mode, and then adding in its Blackout battle royale mode less than a year prior to release. Watch Dogs: Legions was one of the standout games at E3 this year, mostly thanks to its ambitious promise of allowing players to play as any NPC in the world. That said, it seems Ubisoft is well aware of the game's quality. Speaking to Telegraph, Ubisoft's Alain Corre more or less confirmed that Ubi knew going into the game's reveal that it had something "very, very good" on its hands.

Michael Condrey, the former head of Sledgehammer Games (one of the developers that works on the Call of Duty series), seemed to recently suggest that Activision is pushing Infinity Ward to make Call of Duty: Modern Warfare more controversial and darker in order to get headlines, because as you will know, controversy sells.

PlayStation Now has failed to really make an impact. In fact, it hasn't even surpassed one million subscribers. However, everyone is betting on services being the future, and Sony is too. In a recent interview with the Financial Times, PlayStation boss Jim Ryan confirmed that PlayStation Now will be a big part of PlayStation's future, this year, for the PS5, and beyond.
