Xbox One enables you to share the benefits of a single Xbox Live Gold membership with anyone who uses your Xbox One console, without allowing others to use the credit card linked to that membership to make purchases.

If you create a Microsoft account for each console user, each user can have his or her own Xbox Live profile to use to sign in to your console but have access to all the services of your Xbox Live Gold membership.

Remember, on Xbox One you are not automatically signed out. To prevent unauthorized use of the credit card linked to your Xbox Live Gold membership, you should always sign out after using the console. Also, its a good idea to set up a passkey to protect against other console users signing in to your account.

Dont put credit cards on the account of any family member whom you dont want making purchases (such as children). You can always buy an Xbox gift card if you want to allow the children to make purchases.

How to create a separate Microsoft account for each console user

To create a Microsoft account, all you need is an email address that you monitor regularly. If you need an email address, well walk you through creating a new @outlook.com address you can use. Follow these steps to create your Microsoft account:

1. View the upper-left corner of the Xbox Home screen. Click on the small band of gamerpics you see there. Or, say Xbox, Sign In.
2. Select Add new.

• If the family member youre creating an account for already has a Microsoft account but has never created an Xbox Live account, enter the email address and password the person uses to sign in to that Microsoft account.
  
• If the family member for whom youre creating a new Microsoft account has an email address that the person monitors regularly and would like to use, enter that email address and choose a password when prompted.
  
• If the family member youre creating a new account for doesnt have a Microsoft account yet, click Get a new email and well walk you through setting up an @outlook.com email address for that person to use when signing in to your Xbox One and other Microsoft services.
