Problem

You try but cant add yourself to an Xbox One family.

Solutions

Solution 1: Make sure that you and one other adult from the family you want to join are signed in to the console. You cant add yourself to a family. An adult in that family must add you, and both people must be signed in.

Solution 2: Check to make sure youre not already part of another family. You can only be in one family at a time. Heres how to check:

1. Go to the Home screen.
2. Press the Menu button on the controller.

3. Select Settings.

Note You can say Xbox, go to settings from any screen, but youll need a controller to navigate once youre on the Settings screen.
4. Scroll to Family. If you see any other profiles listed in the Family section, youre already part of another family.

If you do belong to another family, you must have someone from the original family remove you from that family before you can join the new family.

Solution 3: If youre a child or a teen, find an adult to help you. Children and teens cant add or remove family members.
