When you move from Xbox 360 to Xbox One, nearly everything from your old console moves with you. This includes your profile, your account information, your family settings, and your music and video content.

What moves to Xbox One?

Most things move with you to the Xbox One, all you need to do is sign in to your Xbox One with your Microsoft account. Heres what moves with you:

Profile: Most of the elements associated with your profile, including your gamertag, gamerscore, achievements, and friends.
Account information: All your memberships (such as Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Music Pass memberships) and the payment methods that are associated with your account.
Family relationships: Family relationships are managed through your Microsoft account and will move with you. For example, if you created a Microsoft account for your child and associated it with your own account, that relationship will carry through to your Xbox One. You wont have to create a new child account.
Privacy settings: When you establish privacy settings, you are restricting what parts of your Xbox Live profile others can see such as whether youre online, what youre playing, your friends list, and so on.
Xbox Music: All purchases youve made through the Xbox music app, and anything you have in the Xbox Music cloud, will appear in the Xbox music collection.
Xbox Video: All purchases youve made through Xbox video will appear in the Xbox video collection.

What doesnt move to Xbox One?

Heres what doesnt move with you:

Games, gamesaves, and apps: Xbox One is not backwards-compatible with your existing Xbox 360 games, gamesaves, or apps.
Online Safety: Online safety, or parental controls, consist of the privileges and content restrictions that you enforce within your home. Privileges are what you allow children to do, such as participating in multiplayer gaming or adding friends. Content restrictions establish what your child cant see, such as videos and games that you consider age inappropriate. On the Xbox One, online safety settings are managed within your Microsoft account, are customizable for each member of your family, and roam to any other Xbox One your child uses.
