Its your Xbox One console; turn it on or off your way. This page describes the ways that you can turn your Xbox One on or off.

Note Your Xbox One console must be configured to use the Xbox, on and Xbox, turn off Kinect voice commands. For more information, see Use Kinect voice commands to turn your Xbox One console on or off.

To turn on your Xbox One console:

• Press the Xbox button on your wireless controller.
  
• Touch the Xbox button on the front of your Xbox One console.
  
  Note The Xbox button on your console is a capacitive touch button, so you only have to lightly touch it.
  
  
• Say Xbox, on.

Troubleshooting

If youre having trouble turning on your Xbox One console, try the following steps:

• Verify that the power supply unit (PSU) light is white or orange. If the PSU light is not on, make sure the power cords are firmly plugged into the wall and your console.
  
• If you are using your wireless controller to turn on your console:
  -Make sure that fresh batteries are inserted into the wireless controller.
  -Make sure that the wireless controller is synchronized to the console.

• If you are using voice commands to turn on your Xbox One console, make sure that your Kinect for Xbox One sensor is plugged in and turned on. Additionally, verify that the sensor is enabled in the Settings menu. See Use Kinect voice commands to turn your Xbox One console on or off.

Turn off your Xbox One console

To turn off your Xbox One console:

• Touch the Xbox button on the front of your Xbox One console.
  
• Press and hold down the Xbox button on your wireless controller until the Off menu is displayed. Then select the option to turn off the controller or turn off your console.
  
• Press the Menu button on your controller, select Settings, select Power and Start, and then turn off the console.
  
• Say Xbox, turn off, and then select Yes.

Depending on the power mode thats configured on your Xbox One, your console will go into Instant-On power mode or turn completely off. For more information about power modes, visit About Energy Saving and Instant-on power modes.

Troubleshooting

If you are having trouble turning off your Xbox One console, try the following steps:

[*]Hold down the Xbox button on your console for about 5 seconds. This will force the console to shut down.
[*]As a last resort, unplug the PSU. Note that this may affect any current activity. For example, if you unplug the PSU while saving a game, the game may be lost or corrupted.

Note Do not unplug the PSU while console updates are being installed.
