Preferences allow you to change various behaviors on your Xbox One console, including notifications, system and app behaviors, and SmartGlass Connections.

Access preferences

To open the Preferences screen, do the following:

1. Press the Xbox button to return to Home.
2. Press the Menu button, and then select Settings.
3. In the Console settings column, select Preferences.

Notifications

Choose which popup notifications you want to see. You can either individually enable or disable Skype, Messaging, and Party notifications, or you can choose to enable or disable all notifications. See Notifications for Xbox One for more information.

System & App

The following preferences can be changed:

Allow Play To streaming

Enable this if you want to play video and music on your Xbox One from the Windows 8 and 8.1 Share charm and other Play To compatible devices.

Record gameplay with Game DVR

Enable this if you would like to use Upload and Upload Studio to capture and share your gameplay footage.
Xbox SmartGlass Connections

Enable SmartGlass Connections if you would like to use Xbox
SmartGlass on other devices.
