Xbox One owners can let guests use their console even when no family members are signed in. Owners can also make choices about the games and apps that their guests can use. If the owner has set up guest restrictions, only an adult in the household can change the guest accounts settings. Xbox One allows a guest to override these restrictions by entering the guest key.If you are signed in as a guest on a console on which the owner is signed in, the owners privacy and safety settings will apply to your gaming session. If there are multiple family members signed in, the console will enforce any rules that the adults in the household have set. Generally, this means that the most restrictive settings will apply to you.If the owner is not signed in, your experience will depend on any content choices that adults in the household have made about what guests can do on the console. If you use the guest account and try to access content that is rated higher than the accounts settings allow, the console will prompt you for the guest key, which will allow you to override these restrictions. Your host will have to provide the six-digit guest key.
Once youve entered the guest key, youll know its been confirmed when you see the content you were trying to access.Note If the console owner has forgotten the guest key, the owner will have to restore factory default settings on the console to clear the existing guest key.
Warning Restoring the console to the factory default settings erases all accounts, apps, games, saved games, and settings. Anything not synchronized with Xbox Live will be lost. Your console syncs with Xbox Live automatically when its connected with the service. Before restoring factory default settings, be sure you sign in to Xbox Live to allow your console to synchronize with the service.
