No Man's Sky - Things Not To Dot
Don't Buy a New Ship Until You Can Craft Warp Cells
New ships are wonderful, but they almost always come with drained Warp Drives. As eager as you may be to buy a ship, don't make a purchase until you've mastered all elements of the Warp Cell and Antimatter recipes.
Otherwise, you'll find yourself potentially trapped in a single star system, unable to jump for lack of fuel.
Don't Get Into a New Ship Until You're Really, Really Sure
Once you transfer your goods between ships and hit accept, you're locked in. Going back and trying to salvage more risks transferring command back to your abandoned vessel, and relinquishing control of your purchased ship.
So when you buy a ship, be sure to transfer absolutely everything!
Don't Go to Space Without a Titanium Reserve
Space pirates lurk in the darkness between the stars. A quick ambush can deplete your shields and put a quick end to your adventures. When taking off, keep a reserve of Titanium handy for quick shield repairs.
Don't Get Lost in a Cave
Caves are really cool, until you take a wrong turn and get lost inside. Finding your way out of a cave is a huge pain if you get too deep in,so try to set a custom Waypoint on a structure outside, or at least note the relative direction of your ship and the exit before exploring.
If you do find yourself trapped, try to find a point near the surface and blast your way through with Grenades.
Don't Run Out of Gas
There's not a lot more irritating in the world then getting stuck on top of a mesa with no Launch Thruster fuel. Keep some Plutonium handy, especially when landing in high-up or remote locales on sparse planets.
Don't Tangle With too Many Space Pirates
Unless you're in a well-armed, combat-oriented ship, taking on more than two pirates at once is a dangerous prospect. Don't engage large squadrons unless you have no other choice. Break and run if at all possible.
Don't Miss Scripted Events
Most of No Man's Sky's procedural-generated galaxy is random, but occasionally you'll come across scripted events that usually help drive you toward important technology. If you see an unsolicited signal for a major facility or monolith pop up on your HUD, it's usually a good idea to check it out. Likewise, if you think you've missed something, check your warp star map and you may find new destinations highlighted or anomalies detected.
