Simple affect that can make your work look a lot better and give it a cool look.
This is what we will be learning today.

Note: This doesn't have to be on a shape nor does it need to be done with text, you can use this affect for anything you'd like, be creative!
1) Have your shape and text layers setup, have the text layer above the shape layer like so.

1a) Rasterize your text layer to make it editable; Right click & Rasterize Type.

2) Now have your shape layer selected, hold Ctrl, or Command for Mac and left click the thumbnail of your text layer. An icon will appear next to your mouse when done correctly.

2a) This will select the outline of your text.

3) Now with that selected and your shape layer still selected in your layer panel.

3a) Press delete or backspace on your keyboard and it will delete the outlined text from your shape layer.
3b) Hide your text layer by pressing the eye icon to see the results. It will now display whatever is behind the shape layer.
