Destroy the boss of the first area
The boss of the first area appears right after killing all of the enemies in the third level, L3. The wall you could hide behind turns into the boss who flies around the area. Ignoring the fact that it moves up and down, it essentially just moves left and right continuously. Every couple seconds it shoots a volley of three or four shots. This makes it very easy to dodge his attacks. Simply shoot at him over and over.
