1. Connect the iPhone plug on one end of the iPhone connection cable to the iPhone. Connect the other end of the iPhone connection cable to a USB port on the computer.

2. Press and hold the "Sleep/Wake" button at the upper right corner of the iPhone at the same time as the Home" button on the iPhone. Press and hold the "Sleep/Wake" button after the iPhone's screen has gone black. Release the button when the Apple logo appears on the screen.

3. Click the agreement button on the iTunes confirmation window that has now appeared on the desktop. Follow the menu sequence to enable iTunes to download and install the most recent Apple iPhone operating system into the iPhone. Leave the iPhone alone until the installation is completed.

4. Right-click the icon of the iPhone that is in the left column of iTunes. Select "Eject" from the pop-up menu. Quit iTunes. Disconnect the iPhone connection cable from the iPhone and from the USB port of the computer.

5. Tap the Web browser icon on the iPhone's screen. Enter the Web address of an online jailbreaking website into the Web browser's address text field, for example, JailbreakMe. Slide the slider on the screen to the right with your finger. The website will now download, install and run the jailbreaking program on the iPhone. Leave the iPhone alone until after it has rebooted.
