Plug the long, flat end of the supplied USB data cable into the port on the bottom of your iPhone and connect the standard USB end of the cable to a USB port on your computer.

Open iTunes if it does not automatically open.

Click the name of your iPhone in the "Devices" section of iTunes on the left menu bar. A screen with information about your iPhone appears. The "Summary" tab at the top menu bar is automatically selected.

Click the "Restore" button in the "Version" section of the "Summary" tab. A pop-up window appears with a message asking if you want to back up your settings.

Select "Back Up" if you want to back up your settings or "Don't Back Up" if you want to restore the iPhone without backing it up. A second message appears asking you to confirm restoring the iPhone to factory settings.

Click "Restore." A third message appears informing you that the iPhone was restored and is restarting. Keep the iPhone connected to the computer. The iPhone restarts and reactivates. Once reactivated, "iPhone is activated" appears on your iPhone screen. The "Set Up Your iPhone" screen appears on iTunes.

Select "Set up as a new iPhone" and click "Continue."

Follow the on-screen instructions to complete setting up the iPhone.
