This tutorial will show you how to create a simple avatar using Photoshop.
Making the background
- First, go to File > New and select the size of your image you want(I am using 200 pixels by 200 pixels). [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
- Next, pick two colors for your background gradient. I am going to be using a light and dark grey. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
- Select the Gradient Tool [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
- I am going to be using a radial gradient for the background. To do this, select the radial gradient option at the top of your screen under the Select button. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
- Now drag out from the middle of the canvas, you should see something roughly like this: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
- Next, double click on the layer in the layer panel. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
- Now select Stroke and set the pixel size to 1 and the position to Inside as shown here: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Adding the text
- First, select the Horizontal Type Tool. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
- Next, pick two colors for the gradient of your text. I will be using two light blacks that are different from each other. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
- Now click on the background of the avatar with the Horizontal Type Tool and enter your text. You may change the size of the text and position of it to your liking.
- Next, double click on your text layer and select Gradient Overlay.
- Now click on the gradient drop down and select the gradient that correspondes to the two colors you picked [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] Then select OK.
- Now you may modify the gradient properties to your liking. This is what I chose: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
- If you wish to add a drop shadow and stroke to the text, you may do so by selecting Drop Shadow and Stroke. This is what I chose for drop shadow: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] and this for stroke: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

And that is how you create a simple avatar using Photoshop!

This is useful as you included the avi dimensions, as I always struggle with that lol, I never know what to put in smh.
