if one thing doesnt relate you can tell it isnt in the photograph.

the metaball has a good ammount of polygons and the overall composition cant really be faulted.

I will consider all of this for next time.
I have only had Cinema 4D for about 6-7 days now.
So still learning
If you want to create something with a bit more of a dynamic look you really need to start looking into light rigs and light setups.
With then you can make the simplest of scene's look almost life like.
Another tip, because from my obsevation it looks like Global illumination isnt turned on in your scene, this also is a big hitter when making things seem realistic in C4D.
If you dont know what it is I suggest you look it up, its really fundemental within the program.
I actually did have GI on
But i did have an ambient occlusion as well.
Dunoo of that sets off one another?
And yeah i wanted to get a few things from greyscale gorilla, but when i saw the prices...
Didn't really want to spend that much yet.

Yea ambient occlusion takes all the shadows that were once dynamic and cranks the contrast to black so theres no midtones it does the same to all the highlights.
As for the lightkits, you can make your own light studios within C4D.
Ive made my own and havent touched GSG's kits.
heres a great tutorial on making a default light studio in C4D.
Go from step 37 onwards then when the thing is built save the project file.

you got me excited when i thought it said meatball :X
focal stands out in bad way :/ colour is too contrasting
Text needs to stand out more, and perhaps match the focal.
