This post will tell you what you can do to make your XBOX 360 or Your JTAG last.

First off here's the lifetime and some qualities of the different types of XBOX/JTAGs.

These are revisions of all the XBOX 360 motherboards and most of the information about
them:

Xenon: CPU: 90nm, GPU: 90nm, HDMI: No, Power Supply: 203 W, Notes: The original first XBOX 360. The lifetime for this console is usually between 3 months to a year. You shouldn't keep it on for more than 3-4 hours a day.

Zephyr: CPU: 90nm, GPU: 90nm, HDMI: Yes, Power Supply: 203 W, Notes: First HDMI XBOX. You shouldn't keep it on for more than 3-4 hours a day.

Falcon: CPU: 65nm, GPU: 90nm, HDMI: Yes, Power Supply: 175 W, Notes: This console introduced a cooler CPU. This console should not be kept on longer than 5-7 hours a day depending on the history of it. This console has a less chance of getting Red Rings but it is still likely it will get it.

Opus: CPU: 65nm, GPU: 90nm, HDMI: No, Power Supply: 175 W, Notes: Used to be used for a replacement for Xenons. This console should not be kept on longer than 6-7 hours a day depending on the history of it. This console has a less chance of getting Red Rings but it is still likely it will get it.

Jasper: CPU: 65nm, GPU: 65nm, HDMI: Yes, Power Supply: 150 W, Notes: This reduced power consumption, it introduced the cooler GPU as well. Some models have on board flash memory. This console can be kept on all day, it runs cool enough. These consoles won't usually get Red Rings.

Vejle: CPU/GPU: Combined 45nm Chip, HDMI: Yes, Power Supply: 135 W, Notes: It's currently the newest XBOX being produced and the most reliable. This console has had barely or no reports of red rings, the only reports I have read about is that the power brick tends to fail a lot.

Here is some ways you can customize your XBOX 360 to make it run a lot cooler and last a lot longer then it usually would.

A 12 volt fan mod mods your fan so it spins at its full potential because Microsoft decided to give it about half the power. This will help your XBOX stay cool. Here is a tutorial on how to make one.

These RAM heat sinks are used for the RAM components that Microsoft decided to use Band-Aids. These don't help a lot but they help a little bit. You can purchase them on Ebay if you are interested in them.

I would prefer a 12 volt fan mod over this but if you don't want to make one then this is the best you can do. All though if you do use one it restricts airflow until it gets hot which can create problems. These should not be used on non-HDMI consoles no matter what.

This Heat sink distributes heat better then any other which helps keep it cool and it eliminates most of the heat problems and the famous RRoD.

This kit can cool a console by 20 degrees! Instead of having your DVD tray inside your XBOX its on top of it in its own cool case! The DVD tray is replaces with 2 fans, one that is right over the GPU and one that's connected to the CPU. This is one kit that has really worked.

Thermal paste has some impact on the heat transfer to the heat sinks. You should probably also change it if you are having heat problems. I would use Arctic Silver Thermalpaste, I've had good luck with it.

This is for people who have non-HDMI consoles. Non-HDMI consoles run hotter than HDMI's and they have less metal to distribute heat to. These will give you about 3 times as many miles on your console then you would have with your first generation heat sinks. All non-HDMI XBOXs/JTAGs should have these.

When you get your x-clamps replaced with screws and washers you can put a better amount of pressure with your heat sinks and your motherboard. This is a must have for mostly all consoles. This also helps heal with heat a little bit.

No matter what kind of XBOX you have you need to make sure air can get into it correctly. If you do not do that then there's a better chance of it over-heating. It is much better if you have your XBOX on its side unless it's a slim. Also try to keep it out of small boxed in places. Another mod you can do is you can cut a hole in the metal chasis where the fan is and that provides better air flow. Credit to Colorado 880 for this one.

If I missed anything please send me a pm or reply to this post. I will include your name and what you helped with. I hope this helped! Thank you for reading.
