Simply put..

Battlefield is a game that at some time in it's history decided to focus on big maps, more players, decent engines and above average graphics.

All these things gel better when played on a gaming PC. They do not work as well on consoles. This lets the game down.

Call Of Duty is a mega franchise that has always focused on delivering fast 'twitch' multiplayer for the gamers that don't want to spend ages waiting for their next move. It has mostly focused on small to medium maps, multiplayer designed mostly for twelve players, it has run on a moderate but highly modified engine, pumping out slightly better graphics each time.

This game works well on consoles due to the player size and game style.

The point is if you have the time to sit down and really get involved then BF is the game for you. Preferably on PC.

But, if like me you enjoy the ability to play a few games knowing they won't last forever. Then COD is for you. Preferably on console (more fun) but can be played easily on a PC too.

I'll get COD for this reason, I might rent BF, but I know I won't buy it. I am a serious gamer and spend serious time playing games but a game like BF asks too much time from me. I work hard and it's just lucky that one game suits my play style, if I had more time I'd play both but COD appeals to the masses that go out to work and don't have all day to sit on a PC or console playing games like BF.

I'm not hating on anyone, it's just the way some things are.

Also don't forget that Call of Duty gives a "addiction" effect to the gamers mind. Many people get addicted to how the structure of the game is and when another game comes out, they will instantly compare the pros and cons from the newly released game with the call of duty franchise.

In my opinion i think Battlefield will be a better game this year.

Not because i'm some huge fanboy of the game series, i only started playing battlefield games when the Bad Company 2 beta was released.

When i downloaded it and played my first game on it i was amazed to say the least. The gameplay was great, the guns were balanced and it was just a all around great game.

When MW2 came out i was hooked on that for the first 2-3 months but then i slowly got bored and regularly annoyed at the game because i couldn't stand all the OP stuff in the game, the lack of support MW2 was getting at that moment in time was pathetic and i started playing Bad Company 2 again.

When Black Ops was first announced i wasn't exactly thrilled for it because i was expecting another WaW. Then when Treyarch finally started talking about the Multiplayer the stuff they talked about slowly got me interested in CoD again. But knowing Treyarch there are always major flaws in there games. Black Ops had laggy servers, a unbalanced perk system, op guns, slow paced gameplay and i didn't like it that Treyarch patched EVERYTHING. It was like as soon as a new bug/glitch or exploit was found it was gone within a few days and you couldn't have fun on the game.

Then MW3 was announced and once again i wasn't thrilled for this game either because of the past problems MW2/Blops had and plus BF3 had already been officially announced and gameplay released so it was one or the other really.

Both games look good but for me Battlefield 3 will be the one i'm buying because looking at the MW3 gameplay its nothing different, there is nothing that gets me excited for it because it looks like a revamped MW2 with some new guns.

To sum it up for me:

Quality > Quantity

Battlefield has better quality gameplay, MW3 will have the quantity in game sales

Regarding BF3 and MW3. I think it comes down to do you want a 'war simulator' (BF3) With all the vehicles and massive environments and destructible environment. Or, do you want gun on gun game play to show your gun skill and have more of a 'gamey' feel to it with MW3. You may have realistic aspect in MW3 but it is more about perks and gun on gun game play. I think both are going to be amazing, but I am getting MW3 first. I prefer constant gun on gun and I love my search and destroy. But on the other hand, BF3 is beautiful and so much more realistic and it makes you feel more like a real soldier.

My vision for the future of CoD is that when treyarch makes there next CoD, it will be the last CoD as we know it today. After that, I think CoD will need its re imagining. I think that is when we will get our 'counterstrike: source' CoD with just multiplayer and things like that. Let me know what you think.

I played these two games like them but its really hard to compare them. Anyway i will buy MW3 & Battlefield 3.

FYI, even today i love to play MW & MW2 while i compare them to Black Ops. Im really proud to say that im a Modern Warfare Fan.
