Well, I've been doing console repairs for several years so even though I decided not to convert over to staff, I thought I might do a nice thing and share my knowledge with anyone who may have a question about repairing your 360.
No hairdryer, no crappy youtube fixes, and no horrible X Clamp replacements. More permanent ways to keep that 360 kicking for years to come. True methods that work.
So if you have any questions about hardware repair, flashing, replacing parts... Ask away and I'll do my best to help you out...

This is the other administrator from Blue Shadowz. He helped me fix two Xbox 360's over AIM, and helped me run the site for over a year.
Great and trusted friend. Stickied.

I opened up my xbox and everything for just a test and then I closed it up again, Do you have any completed finished WaW Modded Disks that all I would have to do is use ImgBurn to burn the file onto the disk, I mean like just completely finished. I do not have the knowledge yet to prepare one myself and I did try hard for a whole day. If you do could you please send me the file. I guess you can say this is a question about flashing.

You can find modded iso files on xbox360iso.
Is your drive flashed? If not, you may want to get that taken care of first.

Your laser is dying...
There are 3 different solutions...
You can do a "pot tweak" to strengthen the laser, but this will only be a temp fix.
You can buy a replacement laser for your drive from ebay, etc and replace it.
And the best solution (as rarely "open Tray" can be caused by other components of the drive, a bad sensor, etc... ) is to just replace the drive, which is a fairly simple process. You simply get the drive key from your old drive and "spoof" it onto a new drive.
Any more questions, feel free to ask.

It's not really a large problem, but when there isn't a disc in my tray and I attempt to open it, it jams. Is there an easy fix for this? If it's not easy (I've never even opened up ANY console in my life time) then I will just continue using a paperclip to open it or keep a disc in it constantly.

Have you tried it lying down?
Without the faceplate?
I've had a few like that, where it seemed the drive would stick at random times. SOmetimes those things help, and sometimes it's not aligned perfectly on the guide rails itself in the DVD drive.

I've never had it standing vertically, so that can't be it. Taking the faceplate off doesn't help either. Is realigning the drive complicated?

If it's not a big deal for you, I wouldn't do it. You would have to open the 360 and the drive.
Does the tray wiggle a lil side to side when it's open? If so you may be able to wiggle it to a sweet spot...lol
