i worked out what it is lastnight. He sold me the xbox with two disc drives, one is a mix and match, one is the correct one but its faulty?! i know what to do but im gonna get a refund for him wasting my **** time -.-

if the console can run unsigned code you can extract the key, and i *think* you can spoof the key. regardless though both of these options will prevent you from going on to xbox live...

Get a new DVD Drive and flash it or take off the the motherboard on the bottom of the drive and Switch it with another drive.
