What is happening to society now a days? Why is it that people choose to play video games more than any other sport or hobby in The U.S.A? There are many reasons, but it really bugs me how people can do this to themselves? Yes playing averagly a week is fine, 4-6 hours tops, but when you go and play games and see second prestigers even though the game came out a week ago? And even better when they try to tell you off that "You suck" or your the one with no life, do they think they are getting somwhere? Why do they choose to spend countless hours playing video games? If someone could answer this in a logical way beside that "There fun" or "I have nothing better to do" or "Eveyone else plays them". Do these people think that when they yell at innocent little kids because they go 5-36 that they are cool or somthing?
Back when my dad was young, him and his friends would go outside and do somthing, no matter what it was. I choose to rather be outside and doing things besides playing video games. Is it because kids are depressed from emotional issues in school and life they need somwhere else to fall back on, like a safehaven, and being good at video games means there good at somthing? It's sad when your the calmest kid ever and you rage after an hour of video games. Do you feel the same way? Please, will you people actually logically answer this and your opinion is valued.

I agree and disagree. I agree because people should be doing better things with their life. I mean my friend, who is literally obese, is already half way through 1st prestige and got the game friday.
I disagree because it's almost winter and most of the fall sports are over. Also I mostly play around 6-8 because that's when my family's not home and it's too dark to do anything. I think that if some kids waste their time on it, let them. Most kids play "too" much but have good friends, grades, and sometimes good athletic lives. But whatever

Agreed, many of them have NO life.

I work for a living, support my daughter.

Kids get to do this all day

"OWOW F U TUBER"

Get a life. I know that sounds harsh,
but it's not fair for Gen Z to do this to themselves,
they will have nothing in the future except acne and obesity.

But still, i read in an articale that the number one reason for playing so many video games is because the kids who arn't good at anything or socially depressed fall back on video games because it is somthing they can be good at.

Finally, someone with knowladge and actually has an IQ. I agree, when my generation is older, it will be an economic slump because everyone is too lazy due to video games when they were younger or now.

It plays on the mind. It's just as good as real life to your brain. You work for something, and get a pay-off. Got a job, now you have money. Save up your money and get a car or a residence.

Cod works roughly the same way. Get a challenge? XP + a title and\or an emblem. Higher ranks? Bragging rights. The brain likes rewards for succeeding. No matter what it may be at.

I personally play a lot. And I do trash talk occasionally. Typically I don't initiate it, and it means nothing more to me than words. I can see the concern about people not going outside and enjoying life, but it differs from person to person what 'enjoyment' is. I enjoy both. I love hanging out, having fun, and doing things. But I also really enjoy playing video games online with my friends.

I think some of it stems from money issues as well. I can see how this is difficult to understand, but see it like this. You buy your xbox, get your game, and get the gold subscription. Expensive in the short term?

Yes. But, once you have all that, it's cheaper than paying to go do things such as laser-tag, bowling, going out to eat and other things every couple of nights. You pay 25 bucks per 3 months, or 60 bucks a year. 60 Dollars for an entire year of game play online. Now, imagine if you went out to eat or bowled a few games every couple of days or even once a week.

Around where I live, bowling isn't cheap. There are deals, but those aren't cheap either. I'll use the thursday deal for instance. It's 15 bucks for the whole night from 9-12 pm. Shoe rental included. Now, say you wanted to do this once a week for a year.

$15 x 52 = $780. That's $780 per year for once a week bowling. Very expensive compared to $60 a year for gaming.

Those are just my thoughts, I thought I'd elaborate since there's a lot of debate on the issue of spending too much time on gaming.

I agree for the most part. Being a 17 year old gamer, I have my fair share of "no lifeing games". For example? I skipped school on release day to play just like alot of other kids, but I also haven't played since because of exams and an after school job. I believe there is a real balance that my generation needs to learn. Playing 8+ hours/day is a lot, but if they have finished all of their obligations, and choose to use their "free time" to game and not to be sociable/ participate in outdoor activities than so be it. I agree it's sad but that's how some people are gonna live their teenage years. Honestly, I have no say on how others want to live their life, and I respect what decisions they want to make
