I'd get the Head-Direct RE0 in your position. It's very well balanced, and will handle almost all types of music very well. The bass might not be incredible, but it is balanced very well with the mids and trebles. If you want a bass boost, I suggest pairing them with a Fiio E6 headphones amplifier. I'd also strongly suggest buying the RE0 directly from Hifiman (Head-Direct) instead of through Amazon. There have been issues with Amazon's supplier of these.

Remember to get a line-out cable for the E6 if you want to get the best quality when you use an iDevice! I suggest the the Fiio L3 or L9.

If you want in-ear, the Brainwavz M2 will require you to stretch your budget just a bit, but it's worth it.
For on-ear, the Koss Portapro (or Koss KSC75, they're almost identical in terms of sound) hands down.
For full-size headphones, the Sony XB500 will excel with your preferred genres.

Hey man, I posted on your topic a couple days ago with a $250 price range and wanted something bassy. You recommended the Sony xb1000 I believe, I'm not a big fan of how large those are so I found some other pairs and want to know your opinion on whats the best for pc use and being able to use them around/stylish. My thoughts were
-Audio-Technica ATH-M50 with the FiiO E6 amp and FiiO L9 iPod amp
-Sennheiser HD25 Studio Monitor Sealed Headphone with the amp as well
-Shure SRH840 Professional Monitoring Earphones with amp
-or the Ultrasone PRO 750 S-Logic
My favorie looking are the M50s, but if the others are that much better I'd probably go with those. Thanks a bunch.
