They can be switched to tweak the sound for whatever music you're listening to. Their site explains everything.

Actually, for rock, the XePort 3010 would be a bit better because they're brighter, so they're a bit more energetic for rock.

Fair enough. In that case pick up a set of Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speakers on Ebay. They retail over $150, but can be had for well under $100.

Budget: anywhere under $150 (US)

Music preference: ehh a little bit of Dubstep and then just normal music.

Type / form factor and portability: I don't care about that and I am gonna be at home most of the time.

Audio Technica ATH-M50. Care to elaborate on what you mean by "normal music?" Different headphones do well with different music! The M50s are a great all-rounder, so they'll excel with practically any music. They're just a bit bassy, to some. The sound signature is lovely, in my opinion, and great because I have a very wide variety of music.
