Which genres you'll be listening to. Mostly dubstep, and some rap

What kind you want : Full sized
portability : doesn't matter

open or closed headphones : open

What you are listening from : iPod touch 4g, iPad 2, and laptop

Ultrasone HFI-780. Great basshead cans. Well-built, versatile (they fold and swivel), and they look great. They're not open, though, but in this price range for bassy music, closed is better.

Only if it's the M80. I would stay away from the LPs or anything else by them for now until they're updated with their new sound standards. Their M80 is their first great product, and it really is VERY great. If it's not the M80, I'd suggest you look elsewhere.

Quite frankly, no. Not at all. Read this for more clarification.

Beats, SMS, and Souls are all bad headphones.

As with almost all Skullcandy headphones save for a select few, they're not very good for what you pay. You might think of Skullcandy as the quality budget brand, but they're not. They're a low-quality budget brand in an IEM market with a lot of high-quality budget brands.

Look at the JVC HA-FX1X. It's a good bassy IEM for the price, and competes with higher-end IEMs. Also look at the Xeport 5010 if you want to save even more money. You'll be surprised how little you have to pay to get good sound if you get the right headphones!
