like most people are saying the E74 is GPU related (99% of the time), in fact i think i have only ever had 1 E74 that was actually related to the H/ANA

your GPU has developed a bad solder connection with the board so either reflow or reball, but save your money and opt for a reball as it will make it like new

been a gpu problem, you can reflow the gpu, but in most instances the gpu is going bad, and this will only be a temporary fix
Really? I have never had a E74 console with a GPU problem, odd

I must have fixed 100's with E74 by either reflowing or reballing the GPU, bearing in mind i have probably repaired in excess of 1000 consoles now in the 3 years i have been doing it! I think the only 1 i have had due to the scaler chip was on an older xenon where you could actually see a couple of the legs coming away from the board, it was the rare 1 that you always remember lol

The reason why it is mainly gpu related e74 is because the scaler chip just doesn't get hot enough to either crack the solder balls or generate a dry/cold joint, so it is most of the time related to connecting running from the gpu to the scaler

And i'm sure if you manage to fix the e74 by reflowing the scaler then it is a matter of time before it comes back, plus if you also do the xclamp mod after the scaler reflow then that is also just temp fixing the gpu related e74.....

I've even had an e74 caused from a popcorned gpu from reflow, then reballed new gpu and on came the green lights

Thats crazy, I will have to keep that in mind the next time I get an E74 console, thanks for the info!
