Type / form factor and portability: Doesn't Matter, but I Would Prefer Noise Cancellation.

Open/Closed (Not for in-ear): The Bass one

Active noise cancellation just ruins everything, especially at this price. Check out the AKG K518 and Philips Citiscape Downtown.

I'm assuming USD, but the AKG K181DJ is what I'd get.

Budget: Under $100

Music preference: Essentially a little bit of everything. Hip Hop, Rap, Rock, and Pop, to keep it short.

Type / form factor and portability: I don't travel much so Portability doesn't matter much but doesn't hurt.

Open/Closed (Not for in-ear): Closed

If you want something bassier, the V-Moda LP is what I'd go with for over-ear. The Philips Citiscape Downtown is also bassy and on-ear. Both of these are also very portable and easy on the eyes, to say the least. For something really balanced and professionally neutral, the Sony MDR-V6 is fantastic. Very different from the other two, though.

Quite a lot of options here. I also saw your other topic, you should know better!

From high to low price:
Sony MDR-EX510
Shure SE215
Beyerdynamic DTX 101 IE
Hippo VB
Nuforce NE-700X
Beyerdynamic DTX 71 IE
Fischer Audio Eterna
Fischer Audio Silver Bullet
a-Jays Three
Future Sonics Atrio X
a-Jays Two
Sony XB41EX
Soundmagic E10
Meelectronics CC51
Xeport 5010
JVC HA-FX1X
Meelectronics M6
Monoprice 8320

I went cheaper because even the $7 Monoprice 8320 takes a dump on the Beats. What I think are your best options are bolded.

Which genres you'll be listening to. Dubstep, House, Electronica

What kind you want (over-ear, on-ear, in-ear, no preference, etc.) in-ear
Whether you want open or closed headphones (Explained below). open

What you are listening from (iPod, phone, desktop computer, laptop, console, turntable, etc.).
I will refer to this as your source. ipod, laptop

I'd go for the Xeport 5010, but they're not your only option.
