1. You don't need studio-quality headphones. Period.

2. If you want headphones that are identical to Apple's defaults, but cost about $40 more... go with Skullcandy.

3. Anything by Dr. Dre is destined to be trash, unless Em's involved.

Of course you don't NEED anything. You can survive on bread and water, but that would suck. If that's all you've ever known, imagine your reaction when you're introduced to a nice well-done steak. Many times more expensive, yes, but worth it? That's up to you. People also prefer different sounds. Some might prefer a cold and harsh analytical signature that presents their music in excruciating detail and some might like a fun, colored sound. I find I like headphones to be true to the source, so studio-quality headphones are the way to go for me in that they have an "honest" sound signature. I prefer it.

Iphonesczar knows hi stuff to. I'm not seriouslt considering buying them. After my Crossfade Lp's I'm probably gonna get some AKG's.

Which AKGs? I'm imagining the Q701 here, they'll be drastically different in every aspect. They'll also need some pretty powerful amplification.

Oh, someone asked about Fanny Wangs? Yeah, they weren't my favorite. BUT I just got some new headphones by the same maker of Fanny Wangs and I must say, these are the first fashion-friendly headphones that punch above their weight! I like them more than the TMA-1's I was able to listen to for a short time (still wish I could have a pair to compare them to, but I don't really have an actual need for them so I'd rather save my money)

I have the Laredos at the moment, and will get the Silverados eventually. The Laredos have a very warm sound (which I normally wouldn't really like) but somehow have pretty good vocals for their price point. They handily beat my AKG K181DJ's in almost every aspect. The AKG's have colder mids though, which some people may like more. But still, they're freaking fantastic for $99. The preorder price makes them nothing short of a steal because they're one of the few bassy headphones that...don't suck. I'm trying not to sound like a shill, but aside from hollow mids and slight ringing, they're bitchin'. I probably wouldn't recommend them to most of Head-Fi, but for you guys, I can't really think of anything better as a whole package: great sound, awesome durability, and pretty good looks.

i like all of these and i was just wondering if you had any more good bassy suggestions. they dont have to be right on 200 just anything below so they can be around 100-200 preferably... i think that im leaning toward the V-Moda LP2 but still not sure if theres any way that i could get some more suggestions with the bassy head phones that would be greatly appreciated... btw i already thanked and plus repped you so ill just give more later... thanks man.
