I think I've already asked before, but I'll do it again just to test the waters. Not sure if I can justify such a purchase to my parents, but either way I intend to get the best bang for the buck.

Any suggestions? Bumping this post up.

I knew I missed something. I have no idea what sort of sound signature compliments those genres, but I don't think you can go wrong with the Koss DJ100. One of the few cans I've actually been able to use, it's nice and neutral, built well, versatile, and portable. The hinges are pretty cool, too. I'm completely unsure of availability or pricing in Canada, though, as always.

Are you using these 'phones with an amp? I've read around and there's a number of people claiming that these don't sound their best without one. Also, have you used other pads on these?

I've found one of these going for $67 CDN on amazon.ca (with a $15 gift card it'd be around $51). Are the DJ100s worth it at this price?

I know little about JBL as a company, but after hearing about what Harman (its parent company) did to AKG (another subsidiary), added to a headphone marketed in the low budget range, I would not expect much from these.

Also, found this on Wiki: "There are two independent divisions within the company JBL Consumer and JBL Professional. The former produces audio equipment for the home market while the latter produces professional equipment for the studio, installed sound, tour sound, portable sound (production and DJ), and cinema markets."

If JBL has a good reputation for their professional products, it may not carry over to its consumer products.

I found them awesome even unamped, but that's my uncultured opinion and I can't back it up. Never had the opportunity to use them with an amp, but I was really surprised by the quality. For that price, I really can't think of anything better. Every review I've seen was absolutely glowing and they were at a higher price. Never tried any other pads, they belong to my friend.
