I've noticed a lot of people asking questions like "How do you build a slime farm" and "Can someone help me build a slime farm", so I decided to throw this post together and show you guys how.

Text tutorial:
    * Dig down to bedrock in either a stairway or just straight down.
    * Now build 4 blocks up from bedrock.
    * Now you can start to either mine or blow up an area for your slime farm.
    * Once you've made your slime farm make sure to light it up good with torches or glowstone.

Helpful Tips:
I'd like to thank the user "Yankster" for giving me some of these tips.
    * Slime don't spawn on torches.
    * Light up caves around your farm to increase the chances of slime spawning.
    * Build the farm 3 blocks high.
    * Slime spawn in certain areas.

Video tutorial:

What a slime is and does:
A slime is a hostile, animate, green, hopping, relatively mob in the shape of a cube that appear in various sizes.
When killed, a slime will split into smaller slimes, except for the smallest slime which will drop slimeballs instead.

F.A.Qs:
Q: Why isn't slime spawning in my slime farm?
A: Your slime farm isn't in an area where slime spawn.

Q: Why isn't the slime dropping any slime balls?
A: Try using just your hands to kill them.

Q: Why do mobs keep spawning in my farm?
A: There isn't enough lighting. Put glowstone or torches in any dark spots.

Q: What do I do if I run into lava?
A: Work your way around it. Lava attracts slime.

Q: What do I do if I run into a cave?
A: Put blocks around it and move on.

Q: Do I keep any water that I run into?
A: It's up to you. If you want water keep it. It doesnt effect anything in the farm.

Q: Does the difficulty have to be on easy in order to find slime?
A: No, however you'll have a greater chance of finding slime if your difficulty is on easy or higher.

If you have any other questions, PM me or post below.

I will update this everyday.

I'm have 3 slimes farms in my world. I have some input.
1. Slimes can't spawn on torches
2. It only has to 3 high
3. You can make it 35 x 35 too but on the 5th Level
4. Make sure all caves near are lit so increasing the chance of them spawning
5. They have 1/10 of a chance spawning compared to othe mobs
Looks really good though. Take some consideration of adding these facts to your post.

50x50 is pretty big for just a slime chunk that's 16x16, don't you think?

50x50 is good and true because gives you more slimes and better chance to spawn slimes.

Making it bigger won't increase chances of slime spawning since slimes only spawn on that 16x16 area the rest is just empty space for them to hop around.

Yeah but if you don't get the 16x16 chunk that they spawn on you have more.

They only spawn on a 16x16 space, even if you built a 50x50 space they'd still only spawn on a 16x16 area inside of that.

You don't get anymore slimes.

Then why does my friends Slime Farm that is 50x50 get more Slime than those who have 20x20 or 35x35?

I know. I dont understand either. If there's more space and they spawn in a 16x16 area shouldnt more spawn in your farm of its bigger? :|
