Over the past few days I've seen multiple posts about people asking if jtags are illegal.
In this thread, I will share with you what is and what is not illegal.
First thing's first.
Running a 10th lobby is NOT illegal. - The only thing that this breaks is MicroSoft ToS (Terms of Service). For all the people that think if you break their ToS you get sued.. Wow.. Just leave now. Breaking a ToS on anything will just get you banned. A ToS is just like the word rules.
Buying a jtag is NOT illegal. - Even though you are buying modified content, you cannot get into trouble because of this. However, if you're selling a jtag, there is a possibility that you will be caught. You are distributing modified content that MicroSoft does not agree with. You can sell regular xboxs on ebay, craigslist, etc. because you havn't done anything to it.
Selling ISO discs IS illegal. - You're pirating a game and distributing it to others. This is a crime. No matter where you live, USA, Canada, UK, it is the same law. Distributing pirated discs (DVDs, games, etc.) is illegal
Downloading an ISO IS illegal. - This is still pirating. However, it does go into the iffy side. If you already own the disc game, and just download an ISO because your disc is scratched.. Well, this is still illegal, but not a really big thing.
tl;dr below.
10th lobbies: not illegal
running jtags: not illegal
selling jtags: iffy towards illegal
selling iso discs: illegal
downloading iso discs: iffy towards illegal
Thinking about sueing Microsoft because you got console banned for no reason? Think again.
Microsoft can deny service to anyone no matter what. This means, they can pick a random name in a hat every week and ban the person. It's their service, they can do whatever they want with it, and choose whoever can play it.
Don't believe me? When you buy MSP cards / xbl cards, in the card it tells you to read the ToS. Breaking these ToS will deny you rights to Xbox Live services.
tl;dr below
cant sue because of banned xbox, their service
Why would you trust a random on TTG like me?
Well, I already know my way around the court system, and when I go to college I will be studying law.
I hope I've summed this up for you guys.

Will find exact section of the ToS about denial of service later.

Yes. But, I know alot of kids stay away from jtags because they're afraid of their parents going to jail or something.
