Vote wrote Well I'm getting a computer for my b-day ( we're not going to build one, we're jsut gonna get a pre-built one.) Are they worth it?

i have an AW m17x and the m18x they are both well made and fast

bad points

they are both very heavy any AW laptop owner will warn you of this
they wont fit in normal laptop/backpacks
shipping takes about 30 days
m17x left and right click sucks but its fixed on the m18x
screens are glass and light will relect off it

good points
well made
very fast
battary life is not bad for its size
never gets hot

you are paying for the name you can make a faster tower cheaper but you wont find a faster laptop

Alienware pc's are overpriced for the stuff you get.
Good specs but the pc will be incredibly overpriced, on one of the pc's you have to pay 50 more dollars for 4 gb more ram.

You could do the same thing with a Sager notebook / Asus series. The base model would be cheaper than an Alienware and it'll allow you to pop in a nice SSD as a boot drive since they have 2 HDD bays. It'll also have a matte panel so it's not a expensive mirror

Well, if you absolutely HAVE to get a pre-built go to Cyberpower. Or if you have a COMPUSA where you live you can pick out ALL the parts you want, case, cpu, graphics card, etc. And they will build it for you so you wouldn't have to.
