My problem is that whenever i go to play a disk i get the open tray error.

I have looked up several ways to fix it, and haven't been successful.

I am guessing that its a motor problem because it will try and spin and then stop, and just keep trying over and over and eventually say open tray.

Any ideas on ways to fix this? or do i need a completely new disk drive?

+ Rep for any help!

Thanks!

Yeah, it's most likely your laser. Sounds like your motor is working if the disc spins then stops.

Open your xbox and clean the Laser with compressed air to avoid any damage.
I had the same problem but I managed to remove the dust covering the laser and it now works fine.

Yea, the disk spins and then just stops, and does that over and over
