I have updated my rgh nand to the latest dash but i can't seem to figure out on how to update my retail nand.

Your supposed to update it on live as with any dual nand console.
You will need to put your RGH nand up +1 LDV before you update, this way when your retial updates it on its own your rgh side will match and boot up correctly.
(anyone using a TX demon should ignore this as it doesnt need LDV adjusted when you update)

so to raise my ldv by 1 i need my retail nand? If so i dont have my retail nand.

What dash is your retail nand on? What dash is your RGH nand on?
Did you use Xebuild? for the 16179 dash? I'm pretty sure they patched it in the last few releases.
Once your RGH nand is on the latest 16179 dash, then update your retail nand via live, just connect to live, let it do it's updates then connect with a live profile.
That's what I did for my triple nand slim, and I haven't had any problems, and I ran mine 24/7 for months thru the last 3 dashboards. Same for my demon dual nand slim.

i do try updateing live i goes through the update then i get a status error i veven tried updating my retail dash via usb yes my rgh is the latest dash.

I was sopose to get a dual nand but I got the tri-nand for free cause the guy had no dual nands left.

Some people find having a third nand useful, easier than having to flash a dev kernel to test some mods. Half the mods now a days are done with a dev kernel anyway.
Is it useful for the average gamer? Of course not, and your right about that, but it's still useful for advanced users, using the SDK and neighborhood is way easier than just freestyle dash or xex menu.
My main console is my triple nand slim, I use my dual nand to infect my triple nand and have fun trolling. Certainly better than any of the old phat consoles that the stupid kids buy now a days.

If you flashed the latest dash (16179) using the program xebuild, it will have auto updated the LDV, so stop worrying about that.
Is your console connected via internet cable? No wireless (only leads to problems)
Have you tried to test xbox live connection? Did that work?
