Are you trying to connect the VGA cable directly to the GPU? It may have a DVI port, in which case you will need the DVI to VGA adapter here's an example of one

Yeah, I sure wish that was included with my build because now I have to wait another effing week to use this.

before doing that, I'd see if you have a dvi port in the back of the monitor.

Yes I do, but either way I have to order a DVI cord or a DVI to VGA adapter.
